But is it fun?
Lately I’ve been noticing I’m much more excited, interested, engaged, and just feel better in general about things if I am having fun. It’s kind of my M.O. at this point. Can I find a way to make it fun?
That’s what I like to do with music. Make it fun. That’s really why I started writing in the first place. I wanted people to have fun listening to classical music - at concerts, in the car, at home, on TV, in school, in the elevator.

I had a blast at work the other day.
I apparently have a weird, unplanned talent for creating trivia slides to show before concerts. Now, to be completely honest, I have been doing them for our school concerts for a few years. I mean, pop up a Fortnite GIF and you have the crowd eating out of your hand, so it’s not really THAT difficult.
Anyway, we decided we might want to try some trivia for our grown up concerts. Because grown ups like to have fun too, just ask me.

So there I was, working from the car dealership counter while my car was in the shop, giggling as I worked on my latest masterpiece. See, we are playing Romeo and Juliet by Prokofiev so my theme was that play. Now, you can put what I know about Shakespeare into a thimble and still have room left over. But, hey, I can learn new things.
Anyway, I decided to ask ChatGPT how my slides would sound if they were worded in the language of Shakespeare and that’s where the fun began.
Now if you’re worried that I’m now using AI to write everything, don’t. I really started asking because I wanted it to sound legit. This is the SYMPHONY crowd with high expectations and wine and everything.
I did not expect it to be so hilarious.
So I might say, in real life, I like to listen to the music of Mozart but I find Rachmaninoff to be long-winded and boring.
Then I get some responses and ask for something “wittier.” Then I get this back:
Mozart’s melodies do tickle mine ear most sweetly, but Rachmaninoff doth drone on like a courtier with naught to say and too much time to say it.
And then I laugh and laugh. Seriously, I think I may need a job just translating sentences into snarky, medieval languages.
In fact, maybe that’s the answer to the world’s problems. We need to start talking like 16th century bards.
Or we just find ways to have fun.
Fun is bright colors and loud music (well, loud music that you want to listen to. Not loud music that covers up that strange sound in your vehicle).
Fun is making music for young children and watching them light up and sing and dance with you.
Fun is finding the perfect GIF to add to the team chat at work.
Fun is little things that add up throughout the day. And these things remind you of why you do what you do. These things make your mistakes a bit less painful (and I have made some doozies, for sure. In fact, I just learned I left someone’s name off an email and didn’t get it into a program. Ugh.). Fun is forgiving and being forgiven for being human.
Have fun today. And tomorrow. And as many days after that as you can.
